Welcome to Centre for Music Therapy

These bye-laws will be known as “Nada Centre for Music Therapy, Chennai’s City Chapters Bye-laws, 2007”.
These bye-laws will entitle a person or persons, who are the registered life-members of the NCMT to open City Chapter (“CC”) of NCMT (“Hqrs”), Chennai in any part of India, subject to agreeing with the following terms and conditions and subject to the written approval of the in-charge of the Managing Committee (MC) of NCMT.

The City from which such proposals are made should have at least 20 life members of the Centre, duly registered with the Hqrs. However, this condition could be relaxed for the initial years to facilitate the growth of membership on an undertaking by the conveners.

The CC will function under a Chapter President and a Chapter Secretary General with at least 18 members, who are all registered as life members with Hqrs. (For the initial year, three registered life-members would form the corum)

The CC, during the written approval period alone can use the name and insignia of the Hqrs. and hold get-togethers, functions, entertainment, infotainment, seminars, workshops and conferences on behalf of the Hqrs and after prior approval of such details to the MC.

It is mandatory that CC organizes periodical functions to propagate the concept and practices of music therapy among various population groups such as school children, teenagers, company personnel and executives, retired persons, patients in situ such as schools, colleges, clubs, elders homes, hospitals etc. etc. strictly within its sources of funds and manpower. At least 4 such functions in a year have to be organized by the CC in its city limits or outside.

The CC will not directly engage in publication of any material relating to the activities without the prior knowledge and approval of the MC.

From time to time, Hqrs will help the CCs by way of sending its publications at a discounted price and also free-distribution catalogues and other promotional materials to be distributed among the members/general public.

Hqrs will also advise on various activities to be carried out by the CCs and if possible provide faculty for training, training handouts etc from its own resources as and when workshop etc is being organized by the CC; Hqrs will not be responsible in any way with regard to financing proposals of CC.

The Hqrs can at any time, annul the agreement without assigning any reason, if it comes to know that CC is not functioning pro-active to the objectives of NCMT. In such an event CC will cease to use the name and insignia of the Hqrs forthwith and surrender all dues, if any to the Hqrs within a fortnight.

The CC will submit an ‘activity report’ once in a year (in the month of December) based on which MC would either extend its approval or annul it and without assigning any reason. If no activity report is received by 15th of January next year, the Hqrs may annul the agreement automatically.

The decision of MC will be final in respect of all matters relating to approval or cancellation of CC’s and no legal body could have a jurisdiction to interfere with such final decision.
